Car accident compensation claims

People who make car accident claims can be the most careful drivers out there. It is important that you know what to do after an accident, just incase the situation ever arises.

Had A Car Accident - What Should I Do?

After the car accident has happened you should do the following, you need to exchange your details with all of the parties involved - collect this information:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Phone number
  • Insurance policy number
  • Insurance company name
  • Car details
  • Car registration plate/s

If any of the drivers involved in the accident do not own the car/s they were driving, you will need to take there names. This is because they were driving the vehicle.

If it is possible you should take the details of any witnesses of the accident, take there names, addresses and phone numbers.

As soon as you can, you will need to write a detailed report of the accident. If possible take a few photos of the accident as well. your report should detail the weather on the day, conditions of the road, estimation of the speed of cars, condition of the cars involved, and any other details you think may be important.

Hospital visit

Even if you feel fine after the accident, it is important that you visit the hospital and get checked out.  Some injuries after a car accident will not show or be felt for up to 48 hours. It is best to keep a medical record and also take a note of any medication you have been prescribed. Keep all receipts and expenses of visiting the hospital etc for your records. All this is crucial for a quick personal injury claim.
